Superintendent's Message
August 7, 2023
Dear Cromwell Public Schools Community,
It is truly my honor and privilege to welcome everyone back to a new school year! I hope this email finds you all healthy, well and enjoying your summer break. Summer tasks are in the completion stages in all schools and staff is preparing to welcome students back to school on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. I am looking forward to seeing our wonderful students, staff, and families and having a tremendous 2023-2024 school year.
District-wide, we want to ensure that we provide a rigorous and equitable educational experience to all students. Our faculty, support staff and administration strive to create a positive and welcoming school environment by demonstrating mutual respect for everyone in our buildings. “Placing Students First” is the mission statement for the Cromwell Public Schools and we will continue to place our students at the forefront of every decision we make to ensure their safety, security and well-being.
With respect to the availability of Free/Reduced meals for your children, please know that the State Department of Education (SDE) has lowered the income threshold and requirements for school meals, which may now apply to you, and has made the following changes for this coming school year.
Breakfast only will be available at no cost to ALL students.
If you are eligible for Free and/or Reduced lunch and are notified after completing the proper paperwork; your child will automatically receive Free lunch (reduced prices are longer in effect).
Free lunch is no longer available to ALL students since the State does not have the funding to continue the Universal Free School Lunch Program.
It is of utmost importance that parents/guardians complete and return the Free/Reduced Form that will be sent home on the first day of school in order to qualify to receive free meals throughout this upcoming school year. Please contact your school with any questions as we know these changes can cause confusion.
Once available, please make sure you access the Parent Portal in PowerSchool to update all information to ensure we have the correct contact information to relay important updates and communications. Communication is a key component and is critical in ensuring a strong partnership with parents and guardians. We communicate frequently through our website Cromwell.k12.ct.us, and through emails and phone messages via our automated call system.
Please click here to view the district school calendar. I would also like to take this moment to welcome the families who are new to Cromwell Public Schools. We look forward to working with you and your children.
On behalf of the dedicated team of administrators, educators and support staff who are fortunate to serve the Cromwell Public Schools’ students, we thank you for allowing us to provide your children with a meaningful education that is focused on meeting the needs of all our students. We look forward to building respectful and collaborative relationships with you throughout the year.
Please enjoy the remaining weeks of your summer.
Sincerely,
Dr. Enza Macri
