Superintendent's Message

Dear Cromwell School Community,

It is with extreme excitement mixed with a tad of apprehension that I welcome you and your children back to the 2020-2021 school year. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly made the last six months a challenging time for everyone. I wish that I could assure you that the upcoming school year schedule will be more reliable; however, we all know that this would not be a fair assessment at this time. However, the faculty, staff and I will do our very best to keep you updated in a timely manner as changes arise and the safety and well-being of students and staff will always remain our first priority.

I would also like to take this moment to welcome the families who are new to Cromwell Public Schools. I do hope everyone is enjoying the remaining days of summer with your families. We are all eager to welcome students on Monday, August 31st for the first day of the 2020-2021 school year. Please note, it will be a half-day schedule for all students the first week of school. The schedule will look differently than it has in years past, however; the focus on educating, challenging and inspiring our students will remain the same. Please see the revised calendar for September 2020. Click here to view the calendar.

With respect to the availability of meals for your children, please know that all students will be able to obtain school meals at their respective schools including the days they are not scheduled to attend in person. If you have more than one child and they attend different schools, you will have the option to pick up all meals at one school for your convenience. Pick up time will be between 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Please make sure to provide your childrens’ account numbers so that meals will be charged appropriately according to their meal status. Further information will be forthcoming from your childrens’ schools regarding alternate day pick up locations and times for both breakfast and lunch meals.

As we have prepared to open our schools, please be assured that all buildings have been thoroughly cleaned and all classrooms have been designed to align with the social distancing recommendations. The Reopening of Schools District Plan is subject to change in accordance with COVID-19 health data as well as restrictions that may also be imposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, Governor Lamont, Education Commissioner Dr. Cardona, the Cromwell Health Director and the district’s ability to secure the resources that are required for implementation of those requirements.

“Placing Students First” is the mission statement for the Cromwell Public Schools and we have placed our students at the forefront of every decision we have made to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all.

Communication is a key component and is critical in ensuring a strong partnership with parents and guardians. We communicate frequently through our website (Cromwell.k12.ct.us), our Facebook page, and through emails and phone messages via our automated call system. Please make sure you access the Parent Portal, once available, in PowerSchool to update all information to ensure we have correct contact information to relay important updates and communications. Please access the link below for age appropriate resources that can prepare your children for returning to school while following COVID-19 requirements.
