Placing Students First

A high-quality, rigorous and relevant curriculum is both challenging and demanding. It establishes high expectations for students and contains support at all levels to both scaffold and enrich. Such a curriculum provides opportunities for students to experience productive struggle and fosters a growth mindset about learning. High-quality curriculum provides for focused and intentional learning outcomes and several opportunities for educators to monitor student progress toward the standards through common formative assessment. It serves as a predictor of student achievement on end of year assessments and allows educators to adjust instruction based on the learning needs of their students. It provides teachers with a clear road map for mastery of the skills established for the course/school year.
